Pilates x Menopause

Menopause is a transformative stage in a woman's life, often accompanied by physical and emotional challenges. Pilates, especially 1:1 Reformer and Mix apparatus sessions, can be a powerful tool to support women in the Margate community during this time.

1 Bone Health - Pilates helps improve bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis. Weight-bearing and resistance exercises in Pilates stimulate bone growth and strengthen bones, which is crucial as estrogen levels drop during menopause.

2 Muscle Strength and Flexibility - Pilates enhances muscle strength and flexibility, counteracting muscle loss and joint stiffness often experienced during menopause. This improvement in physical function supports joint health and overall mobility in the menopause.

3 Core Stability and Pelvic Health - Strengthening core muscles through Pilates improves posture, supports the spine, and reduces back pain. It also engages pelvic floor muscles, helping to address urinary incontinence issues some women experience.

4 Mental Well-being and Stress Reduction - Pilates reduces stress and enhances mood by releasing endorphins to balance moods. The mind-body connection emphasised in Pilates promotes relaxation, focus, and improved cognitive abilities helping to elevate the brain fog and give more clarity.

5 Feeling in Your Body - Pilates will help to centre you and support connecting you to your body as many women feel disconnected during the perimenopause/ Menopause. Mindful movements that allow you to focus inward. Helping to elevate symptoms like hot flashes.
